General Terms and Conditions (GTC) of Africa swiss

1. scope of application

These General Terms and Conditions (GTC) govern membership and the use of AFRICA SWISS services. They apply to all natural and legal persons who become members of the association.

2. membership and conclusion of contract

Membership is established by completing and submitting the membership application. Membership is valid for at least two years and is automatically renewed for a further year unless it is terminated in writing at least three months before expiry. Premature termination during the contract period is not possible. AFRICA SWISS reserves the right to reject membership applications without giving reasons. In such a case, the membership fee will be refunded within 7 days.

3. membership types & benefits

All members have access to the international network of AFRICA SWISS, which includes connections to politics, diplomacy, embassies, companies and partners.

In addition, AFRICA SWISS arranges projects and investment opportunities in Africa that have been classified as particularly important and urgent by local authorities.

Africa Swiss also provides a legal framework to support bureaucracy and business development in Africa.

Memberships for individuals

All individuals gain access to the Africa Swiss Platform for Business & Development in Africa and benefit from the tourism and cultural advantages. Members of the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee and the Regional Directors have the rights of an active member during their term of office.

  • Opportunity to become active as a consultant or service provider for the association

Supporting members: natural persons and companies:

  • Financial support of the association through contributions or donations

Memberships for companies

Through membership, companies have access to the Africa Swiss Platform for Business & Development in Africa and receive support for business integration in Africa.

4. membership fees and payment modalities

Membership fees are due annually in advance and are collected by credit card via Stripe. The annual statement is automatically debited annually via Stripe.

In the first year, both the one-off admission fee and the annual membership fee are charged. From the second year onwards, only the annual membership fee is charged.

The current contributions can be viewed on the AFRICA SWISS website.

In the event of late payment, a reminder will be sent by e-mail. If payment is not made despite two reminders, AFRICA SWISS may terminate the membership without notice.

5. services and connection to the Africa Swiss Platform for Business & Development in Africa

All members (active, passive, honorary, cooperating and supporting) receive access to the Africa Swiss Platform for Business & Development in Africa.

Africa Swiss Verein is an independent NPO association and not a commercial enterprise.

This platform is a separate organization in which AFRICA SWISS is only a partner.

Members can use their services and networks, but cannot assert any direct decision-making powers within the partnership.

6 Membership and Board of Directors

Only active members can be admitted to the Board of the Africa Swiss Association.

Not all active members are automatically members of the Executive Board - the current Executive Board decides on new members.

Members of the Board of the Africa Swiss Association can also take on a role in the Africa Swiss Partnership in Africa. This is only possible through board membership of the association.

7. termination of membership

Membership can be terminated by giving written notice at least three months before the end of the membership year.

AFRICA SWISS may terminate a membership without notice if a member:

  • is in arrears with its payments,
  • violates the objectives of the association or
  • behaves inappropriately towards other members.

Contributions already paid will not be refunded.

8. disclaimer

AFRICA SWISS accepts no liability for damage caused by the use of the services offered or by third parties.

AFRICA SWISS is not responsible for content distributed by members within the networks or events.

9. data protection

Personal data is processed in accordance with the AFRICA SWISS privacy policy.

Members agree to the storage and use of their data for association purposes.

Disclosure to third parties only takes place with express consent or if there is a legal obligation.

10. changes to the GTC

AFRICA SWISS reserves the right to amend these GTC at any time.

Members will be informed of changes by e-mail or on the website.

11 Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

Swiss law applies.

The place of jurisdiction for all disputes is Minusio, Switzerland.
