Cooperation between Africa Swiss and the BWA: New horizons for Swiss-African cooperation

Since April 1, 2025, Africa Swiss has been a member of the Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade (BWA) - a significant step that provides new impetus for international networking and economic development between Switzerland and African countries.

The Berlin-based BWA is an international think tank for economic diplomacy and foreign trade. Since its foundation in 2003, it has supported projects in over 80 countries worldwide - particularly in fast-growing markets such as China, India and Brazil. With a global network of around 10,000 companies, the BWA is a key player in the field of sustainable economic cooperation.

Through our active involvement in the BWA, we take the opportunity to work together on forward-looking topics and specific projects. The focus of our collaboration includes:‍

• Development of joint initiatives to strengthen local energy structures

• Exchange of best practices and training concepts

As a member of the BWA, Africa Swiss benefits from a strong network that provides access to decision-makers, institutions and companies in Europe and beyond. Our cooperation aims to make concrete opportunities in African markets visible and to jointly design solution-oriented projects.

Through our initiative, the BWA is expanding its presence in Switzerland and tapping into new potential for cooperation with African partners - particularly in the areas of infrastructure, digitalization and agriculture.
